Accessibility

Neighborhood

2 Pound Cottage is in the quiet village of Easton, set among fields and hedgerows in East Suffolk. It’s a peaceful, friendly place with everything you need for a relaxing stay within walking distance. Just up the lane is Easton Farm Park, a family-friendly working farm with animals, play areas, and walking trails — great for children and open year-round. There’s also a small village playground nearby. For food and drink, The White Horse pub is a short walk away. It’s a well-regarded, family-run spot serving local ales and seasonal menus, with indoor and outdoor seating. Public footpaths lead straight from the village into open countryside, perfect for gentle walks and spotting local wildlife. The village itself is quiet and safe, ideal for families or anyone looking to slow down and switch off.

Guest Access

You’ll have full, unrestricted access to the entire house and the front garden. The back garden is also yours to enjoy—just keep in mind that it isn’t fully fenced, so a little extra care is needed if you have children or dogs with you. The garden hut is available for practical use during your stay—it’s where you’ll find things like the tumble dryer, fans, and garden cushions. As the hut is also used for storage and cottage logistics, we kindly ask that guests stick to the front section and avoid the storage side. Let us know if you need help locating anything—we’re always happy to help!

Good to know

The cottage has been renovated to support modern living while preserving its original Victorian architecture. Living Space: The sitting room features a traditional open brick fireplace. Large French doors provide a seamless transition to the outdoors, ideal for keeping an eye on children or pets in the garden. Accessibility: Please note the original Victorian staircase is characteristically steep and narrow. The ground-floor bedroom and ensuite shower room are specifically designed to accommodate guests who prefer to avoid stairs. Bedding: All beds are prepared with premium linens and cloud-like goose down bedding for a restful stay. Outdoor Layout The gardens are divided to offer both security and scenery: The Front Garden: A contained area with a lawn and sandpit, designed for the safety of dogs and younger children. The Rear Garden: A peaceful, open space bordering a neighboring paddock, offering views of local horses and a quiet spot for morning coffee.

Other Details to Note

You’ll have your own private parking space right at the cottage. The lane is quite narrow, so it’s easiest to reverse out when leaving. If you’re bringing more than one car or a larger vehicle, there’s free parking just a short stroll away on Framlingham Road. Inside, please note the staircase is steep and narrow — it adds to the cottage’s character, but do take care. If stairs aren’t for you, the cosy ground-floor ensuite bedroom is a great option. We love welcoming dogs, and they’ll be safe and happy in the enclosed front garden. The back garden leads onto the lane and a neighbour’s paddock with horses, so it’s best kept as a quiet space.

We loved our stay. The house is fabulous - great beds, well equipped kitchen, nice family spaces. Claire was a great host, accepting a late request to book, with good communication throughout. We'd love to come back.

We had a wonderful stay at 2 Pound Cottage and would highly recommend it to families wanting to enjoy the beauty of Suffolk. There are plenty of lovely walks and even though we were there during the winter there was still a lot to do and see locally, but you do need a car. As a host, Claire is the best…responsive, caring and extremely kind. She constantly asked us if we were enjoying ourselves and was always available for any questions we had. The cottage is beautiful, warm, cozy and friendly and the beds were so comfy we had to ask Claire where she got them from so we can replace ours at home! Thank you so much to Claire - a first class host and a lovely cottage …a true “home from home”!

We spent the weekend at Pound Cottages to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. The cottage was warm, welcoming, had everything we needed and a great base to explore the Suffolk countryside. Would highly recommend.

Myself, my husband, our 8 year old daughter and our golden retriever had a lovely stay at Claire’s property for an early birthday celebration for my husband in November. The property was cosy and clean and was easier to find than anticipated. We had a fabulous dinner shortly after arriving at the local pub (White Horse), which was a quick 6 min walk away and welcomed our dog! We then visited Easton Farm Park the next morning - which, again, was a short walk away and which also welcomed our dog - and headed off to a firework event later that afternoon at Hevingham Hall, which was about a 20 minute drive. This was recommended by Claire and was excellent - amazing fireworks display, live music, fairground and lots of food and drink options. The next day we visited Adleburgh, a 25 minute drive, and had a fabulous beach walk and pub lunch. Claire’s communication was excellent before and during our stay and she was super responsive. We had a great time and would certainly recommend a stay!

A car is recommended to make the most of your stay — the village has no public transport links, and the surrounding area is rich with places to discover by road. Framlingham and Wickham Market are both just a short drive away (around 10 minutes), with cafés, markets, and shops for daily essentials. The A12 is also within easy reach, linking you to Aldeburgh, Southwold, and other coastal towns in under 30–40 minutes. There’s free parking directly outside the cottage, and roads are quiet and scenic — perfect for slow countryside drives. For cyclists, the local lanes are safe and peaceful, winding through fields and hedgerows. If you're feeling adventurous, bring bikes to explore quiet Suffolk roads and tracks — there are plenty of gentle routes to choose from. Train stations are nearby at Wickham Market (Campsea Ashe) and Saxmundham, both connecting to London Liverpool Street via Ipswich. Taxis are available from Framlingham or Wickham Market, but pre-booking is advised as rural services can be limited. Once here, everything slows to walking pace — the playground, Easton Farm Park, and the surrounding footpaths are all reachable on foot. Bring wellies or walking shoes if you’re planning countryside rambles — Suffolk mud is famously sticky after rain!
